Seminary Sunday

A Message From Fr. Barron

 Dear Friends,

Welcome to Seminary Sunday!

Some years back a retired priest was leaving his parish to enter a nursing home.  At the end of his final mass with his parishioners, he was processing out of Church and abruptly turned around, approached the altar, removed his shoes and left them at the foot of the altar. He then proclaimed to a quietly astonished crowd: “Who will fill these shoes?”

This Seminary Sunday, I pose that question once again to priests and lay people alike, “Who will fill these shoes?”

I believe, in God’s great goodness, we all own a part of the answer to this challenging question.

Seminary Sunday is a reminder to each of us to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life as we financially support the seminary and contemplate that most provocative question: “Who will fill these shoes?”

May God bless our priests with our gratefulness and awaken the hearts of those he is calling to serve as priests of Jesus Christ.

God bless you and thank you for your prayers and generous hearts.

Gratefully yours in Christ,

Reverend Robert Barron
