CENTER FOR EQ-HR
SKILLS
UPCOMING LIFELONG
LEARNING EVENTS
in
Emotional
Intelligence and Human Relations Skills
Course Description: This is an
intensive and highly experiential one-week course, with the major amount of time
being spent in small groups of 10 to 14 people with two experienced trainers in
each group. As group life unfolds,
participants are offered feedback on the impact they have on others in the
group. Participants will learn both
inter-personal and intra-group communication skills.
The content of the course will focus on the four areas of emotional
intelligence listed below as keys to improving leadership effectiveness for
church leaders.
As part of this workshop participants will be asked to complete a comprehensive
survey on emotional intelligence.
They will also be asked to identify up to 20 people who know them well and who
would be willing to complete the same survey on them.
What results is a 25 page printout of one’s EQ.
This will be for the participant’s eyes only and will provide possible
personal items to be explored in one’s small group.
Past participants have described this workshop as a life changing event
in their lives. The cost of this
survey is $170 and it is included in your tuition fee.
The cost of this survey plus the fact
that we require two qualified trainers for every group of 10-14 participants
significantly raises the cost of this workshop for participants.
We remain confident, however, that his is one of the best ways of
training people in emotional intelligence.
One does not learn EQ by the lecture method.
We have three workshop planned for 2009.

The following is an overview of the four general areas of emotional intelligence and the 20 human abilities that make up one’s EQ/EI.

One does not need to be competent in all 20 of these abilities as certain clusters of strengths can still result in effective work. It should be obvious that anyone who increases their capacity in these abilities will be more successful in any human endeavor, but particularly in the ordained ministry which is a highly relational calling. There are strong correlations between EQ and leadership effectiveness.
