Writings of Pope Francis Now Available
The Library has begun to acquire books containing writings of Pope Francis. Cardinal Bergolio produced few monographs, but he contributed chapters or prefaces to many books over the past twenty-five years. Several of these are available for browsing in the bookcase labeled “Writings of Pope Francis” in the McEssy Center Gallery. Not surprisingly, publishers are rushing to prepare English translations of the Pope’s writings, and to publish biographical works. We will add these to the bookcase as they become available.

Third Mundelein Authors Annual Reception
Join us on Wednesday April 10th from 2 to 4pm in the McEssy Gallery to celebrate the work of Very Rev. Thomas A. Baima, STD, Melanie Barrett, PhD, STD (cand.), Rev. Ronald T. Kunkel,STD, Rev. Edward T. Oakes, SJ, and Rev. James Presta, STD. Each author will give a brief presentation on his or her work. Copies of many titles will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. (Vatican Radio) More than six centuries after it was founded by Pope Nicholas V, the Vatican Library announced this week that it has made a first selection of ancient manuscripts available for consultation online.The first 256 documents to be digitalised form part of a broader project to make a large section of this prestigious archive freely available to students, scholars, researchers and teachers. Tree Trimming
Come celebrate the season at a Library Christmas Open House in the McEssy Gallery on the 12th! There will be plenty of food, a beautiful tree, and we hope you join for some good company.
In preparation we still have a bit more to go decorating the tree. Father Franzman and the student volunteers did a lot of hard work, even leaning over the spiral staircase to reach the top.

Credo Reference Trial
As information resources become available electronically, the Library has the opportunity to offer them for the Seminary community to try out. The current trial is for Credo Reference, a discovery tool that gives access to information in many resources and formats. A user entering a keyword in the search box on the Credo Reference page will obtain results from the USML online catalog and other catalogs, journal article databases, and hundreds of online reference resources. Users also have access to Topic pages, which gather information about a specific topic and provide links to resources.

Trial of L'Année philologique
As information resources become available electronically, the Library has the opportunity to offer databases for the Seminary community to try out. The current trial is for the L'Année philologique (The Year in Philology), the standard bibliographical tool for research related to the language, literature, history and culture of the Greco-Roman World. Each year’s volume includes articles from 1,500 periodicals, with an additional 500 articles from collections...
