Located on 800 acres of wooded land bridging the border of the towns of Mundelein and Libertyville, Illinois, the University of Saint Mary of the Lake is about 45 miles from downtown Chicago, within easy traveling distance from Chicago's O'Hare airport, and about ten miles east of the shores of Lake Michigan. The Metra train stop is located five minutes away from campus. Regular travel to Chicago's Union Station takes just over 60 minutes. The town of Mundelein, a pleasant suburban area with a growing population, offers ample shopping and award-winning schools.  It has a population of about 28,000 and is located in Lake County, Illinois. Founded in the early 1830s and incorporated in 1882 with a population of 500, Libertyville has grown into a beautiful village with a current population nearing 20,000.  With parks, historic homes, and an award-winning historic downtown, Libertyville offers many cultural opportunities.
