Administrative Assistant's Day
They are the ‘front line’ for parishes and in every organization. This day is set aside every year for Administrative Assistants (or secretaries or receptionists). A day of sharing, reflection, laughter, prayer, and recognition for work done so vital to Church yet often times taken for granted.
Pastors, Administrators, Associate Pastors, Business Managers: please give the gift of this day to these important ‘workers in the field’. I know it is very difficult to live without them for one day – but they so love it, and they will come back refreshed and renewed. We promise!

Putting the Pieces Together: Balancing a Welcoming Presence While tending to the Business of the Parish
With Catherine Sims
Administrative Assistants and Parish Secretaries are the ‘front line’ for parishes. This day is set aside for parish support staff within the Archdiocese of Chicago.
One parish office manager quoted “I’ve been asked to do so much with so little for so long that I am now able to do the impossible with nothing.” Do you ever feel this way? We ask our administrative assistants, secretaries and receptionists to answer the phone, handle questions, take care of those in need who come to our doors, keep records, coordinate facilities and much more. We want all this AND we want you to be a welcoming presence and a good listener to everyone who calls or visits.
Step away from your normal day for a day of renewal and refocus. Learn how to keep a balance between getting the ‘job done’ while still offering your welcoming presence to those you know and the stranger at your door. Join us for a day of sharing, reflection, laughter, prayer, and recognition for work done so vital to Church yet often times taken for granted. You’ll walk away energized, refueled, calm and with some tools for maintaining the balance when you get back.

I love teaching, but more, I love my Catholic faith. I feel it is an awesome gift God has given us and our response to that gift is to continue to grow into it, develop it and pass it on to others, with God’s grace.
