  Sr. Mary Paul McCaughey is a member of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, and has served in Catholic education as a teacher, secondary principal and president, and superintendent. Appointed Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools in 2008, she oversees the largest Catholic school system in the United States, with nearly 85,000 students and more than 7,000 educators in 244 elementary and high schoos. 

Sr. Mary Paul earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Quincy University. She holds a Master of Arts degree in theology from St. Louis University and Master of Science in (institutional business) Administration from University of Notre Dame, an administration certification through DePaul University, and studied for a doctorate in theology and the social sciences at the Chicago Theological Seminary. She holds honorary doctorates from Lewis University and Dominican University. 

Professional afflications include Dominican Association of Secondary Schools; National Association of Secondary School Principals; National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), a member of the Illinois State Commission for AdvancED (North Central Association). She represents Superintendents on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Education Committee and sits on other advisory boards. 

Sr. Mary Paul received the John F. Meyer Award from the National Catholic Educational Association and The Cardianl Bernardin Common Ground Award from the Association of Catholic Priests. She also received Alumni of the Year from the Notre Dame Club of Central Illinois in 1992 and honored with the Gratiam Dei Award in 2004 from the American Catholic Press.
