Endowed Library Collections
The Feehan Memorial Library and McEssy Theological Resource Center at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary are at the heart of the Seminary’s mission to prepare candidates to be priests of Jesus Christ.
The rich research collections housed in the Library provide sources of intellectual and spiritual growth for the seminarians preparing for pastoral ministry as diocesan priests in the service of the Catholic Church. The Library collections also support the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology, authorized by the Sacred Congregation to grant advanced degrees in sacred theology, to foster teaching and research concerning Christian revelation, especially as understood in the Catholic dogmatic and theological tradition.
The Library must continue to acquire new materials in order to provide the University’s seminarians and faculty the best scholarly resources documenting new ideas and research. A university’s distinction and reputation invariably correspond with the depth and breadth of its library collections and information services.
Endowed collections help Mundelein Seminary to keep its library resources on pace with the constantly evolving teaching and research needs of its seminarians and distinguished faculty. Benefactors may establish a library endowment at the following levels:
Library collections will be named at the behest of the donor: for example, the Chester and Margaret Paluch Collection in Church History.
With the consent of the donor, appropriate recognition will be offered, including the display of a plaque etched with the benefactor’s name in the Feehan Memorial Library, annual reports, and invitations to special recognition events.
