A specialized academic institute of the Univeristy, the Litugical Institute administers two graduate degrees, the M.A.in Liturgy and M.A.(Liturgical Studies), as well as the pontifical post-graduate S.T.L. and S.T.D. degrees in liturgy and sacramental theology.

The Institute for Lay Formation provides training and formation programs for Lay Ecclesial Ministry and Lay Leadership in the Archdiocese of Chicago. It also administers the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (M.A.P.S.) degree. It manages significant scholarship programs for laity preparing for ministry as well as the Critical Needs Scholarship program for diocesan employees.
