THE SPONSORING RELATIONSHIP
Sponsorship: All participants must be SPONSORED by a parish or
Archdiocesan agency in order to have a supportive community within
which to exercise their ministry after completing the program.
Service Commitment: Upon graduation, participants serve their sponsoring parish or agency for a minimum of two years.
Advisor: The sponsoring community provides an ADVISOR for the
participant from its staff. The advisor serves as a mentor, meeting at
least monthly with the participant. The advisor, who serves as a liaison between the participant and the sponsoring community and its pastoral staff, helps prepare the community for the participant’s ministry.
Cost: The COST is $1,200 per participant per year (plus a $25 nonrefundable application fee). Includes books and meals. Typically the
tuition cost is shared equally between the participant and the sponsoring community.
THE ADVISOR / ADVISEE RELATIONSHIP
The relationship between the Advisor and Participant is one of
the key aspects of the Called & Gifted program. The advisor
mentors the participant in his/her spiritual and ministerial
growth. The Advisor also serves to facilitate communication between the participant and the sponsoring community and staff.
Advisor Feedback
Three times during the participant’s two years in the program,
advisors are asked to give written feedback to the Program Director
regarding their advisee’s progress. During the participant’s
second year, the Advisor helps him/her form a ministry agreement with the parish/agency to plan how s/he will fulfill his/her two-year service commitment.
